Beautiful even on a Foggy winter morning.

 

Lava

 Incredible lava field geology in the 300 ft canyon cut by the Crooked River just north of Bend, OR.

Nearly 300 miles south, Mount Shasta, a 14,000 foot elevation volcano.

And nearly 400 miles to the east, the canyon cut by the Snake River after it plunges over the Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls Idaho. 

This geology, volcanic heritage, stretches for thousands of miles across the inter-west...and I am grateful to have this chance to explore it during this chapter of my life.
