H is for Hobbies

I would venture to say our hobbies are more important than our vocations. Help keep us human. I've been sewing, writing; working away on the 2nd draft of a trio of vignettes & on this pattern & these two skirts for about 2 months.

Started with the blue fabric at a antique mall in Springfield Ohio

& the red at an art supply resale place, Lost & Found Craft, in Olympia Washington. Also made a trip to Pacific Fabrics in Seattle. There's a place in Tacoma called the Red Elm Cafe with an events room in the back.

I've come to really enjoy using their space to spread out, because working in the truck is distinctly the opposite.

Here's a few pictures of the full skirts, minus wristbands and hems, laid out on the fresh snow in Fort Collins, Colorado.

I also had a chance to spend a weekend at my little hideout in Albuquerque,  and work there for the first time since setting it up. I brought my collection of Steve Keene paintings from home in Georgia.

Today, here in the Walmart parking lot in Orlando Florida, I finished these two. Ready to finish the piece of writing I've been slapping together,  and then I want to make the pattern for a pair of pants I've been tinkering with in my head. Both these skirts have elastic wait bands, pockets and attached belts.
