Snail Quilt commission made from old sentimental clothing. ππππ§£π§₯ππ₯»64"x57"
.
In a previous chapter of my life I was a clothing designer for a living, making machines out of conductive textiles, ready-to-wear & wearable art from upcycled materials. I worked with a great client & wholesaler who commissioned a similar quilt about 10 yrs. ago.
.
Last summer she contacted me out of the blue and asked me to make her another one. Then she sent me a box of ummm π.... clothes that have been ridden hard & put up wet... shredded, stained sweatshirts and pants, moth eaten stained sweaters, stretched out bathing suits, lots of well loved shirts and one nice organza skirt. This project has felt like being on a competitive cooking show trying to make something gourmet out of roadkill and wild harvested weeds gathered along the highway of her life.
.
But I really love snails so I made it work. It even has pockets in the rocks at the base of the trees! Whew! Big job out the door before I head back out into the wild blue yonder!! Er Mah Gawd! So glad it's DONE!
PS. Living in my tiny house honestly this project would have taken over my world so I rented a storage unit down the street from my house a set up my operation in there. Conveniently I also remodeled my house at the same time so it was great to have some overflow space. My home building/doings is at: homemadesolartraveltrailer.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteWhat is a powerful quote on betrayal?
The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies; it comes from those you trust the most. Betrayal can be extremely painful, but it's up to you how much that pain damages you permanently. Trust is like a vase. Once it's broken, though you can fix it, the vase will never be same
